One of the Vactor 2100 model trucks in stock at Vimar Equipment The City of Prince Rupert introduced their new vehicle into service earlier this year |
With Council members voting to approve the loan authorization that will see the City borrow 450,000 dollars towards their purchase of a Vactor 2100 vehicle.
The City purchased the new vehicle last year from the Industrial supplier Vimar Equipment, which is based out of Burnaby.
The City's repayment plan will cover a period of five years with the loan coming through the Municipal Financial Authority.
A key part of the Operations Department fleet, the Vactor 2100 truck has been in service for much of the year, with the purchase having been approved in 2018.
A report from the City's Financial Officer Corinne Bomben provided the details of the process for Council members, though she will have to get back to Councillor Randhawa on one item of inquiry that he made on Monday, that being the fate of the old truck that the new vehicle replaces.
On Monday evening, Ms. Bomben observed that she was not sure as to the fate of the old truck, noting that the normal process is to trade in the original vehicle for the one that replaces it, adding that she would confirm its fate and advise the Councillor once she had found out more details.
The background to the motion was included in the Agenda package for Monday's Council session, you can review the details towards the loan agreement below:
