Hosted by the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services, the Prince Rupert stop of the fifteen city tour in June provides British Columbians to offer ideas, or explain what priorities they would have when it comes to how the provincial government spends our money.
Normally held during the fall months, the Select Committee has decided to shift the engagement period to June, in order to allow the Committee to deliver its report earlier in the budget process.
“Every year, the committee hears diverse perspectives and suggestions on a number of topics. Moving the consultation to June will allow for more time to review and consider this input and the recommendations put forward by the committee.” -- committee chair Bob D’Eith
The Prince Rupert hearing takes place at the Highliner Inn Plaza Hotel from 2-6 PM in the Tsimshian Ballroom of the First Avenue West hotel.
The delegation from the Committee travel to Kitimat the next day for a three hour session at Riverlodge, Kitimat makes for the only other stop in thee Northwest.
According to the most recent schedule of the tour, the group have no plans to consult on Haida Gwaii this time around.
Registration to appear at the public consultation whether in person or by teleconference gets underway this morning, you can call 1-877-428-8337 to reserve your spot in the speaking order.
Those who cannot attend the event scheduled in their area can also participate in other forms, whether by letter, audio or video presentation to be forwarded to the Committee. That opportunity opens on June 3rd with submissions to be made no later than 5 PM on June 28th.
