A news story coming out of the Lakes District and Bulkley Valley last week has indicated that the organization has plans to eliminate a Chair and instead share the leadership duties among a trio of Northwest politicians, with Prince Rupert Mayor Lee Brain named as one of three co-chairs for the project.
Reportedly sharing the duties with him will be Houston Mayor Shane Brienen and Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine Director Sean Bujtas.
While launched with a significant amount of energy a few years ago and hailed as a new direction for the region, the amount of news generated by the organization in 2018 dwindled quite a bit by year's end.
There hasn't been much heard from the NWBCRBA since last summer when they began what they called Stakeholder Engagement, along with an update that observed how meetings with provincial government representatives were ongoing.
So far however, there has been no further updates as to how those talks have gone, or what kind of progress the organization is making with the provincial government.
Background on the organization can be reviewed from their website and Facebook page.
