Regional District set to explore five year Financial Plan this weekend

This month's North Coast Regional District meeting in Prince Rupert will have some long term vision planning in mind, as Directors gather to begin the process of reviewing the Five Year Planning elements, as they head towards their final Budget deliberations of March 31st.

Towards that review, the NCRD is hosting a Round 1 Budget meeting this Saturday in Prince Rupert which is open to the public starting at 10 AM, it is the first of three such budget sessions with future meetings planned for February 23 and March 14.

Regional District meetings are held in the conference room of the Coastal Business Centre at 344 2nd Avenue West (across from the Ocean Centre)

The public is welcome to provide their feedback into the process during those three budget review opportunities, with documentation related to the propose Five Year plan available here, by way of a 126 page report.

Included in the report are financial statements and projections that offer up past and anticipated spending and revenue streams.

Also found in the volume of pages are listings related to the range of grant funding that Regional District provides to organizations and services across the region.

You can learn more about Saturday's meeting here, or by contacting the Regional District office at 250-624-2002.

The budget session of Saturday, follows what will be the Regular Regional District Council session of Friday evening, the agenda for that gathering can be reviewed here.

In addition to their work on the five year plan, North Coast Regional District members are awaiting the deadline for the Alternate Approval Process related to their plans for financing of a range of projects for the Prince Rupert Recycling Centre on Kaien Road,

There's just a bit over one month to go for Regional District's
call for response to their Alternate Approval Process plans for
funding Recycling Centre projects

As we outlined last month, the members of Regional District chose the AAP approach towards their plans to seek authorization to borrow up to 500,000 dollars for the purpose of borrowing funds, over a 20 year period to complete upgrades to the Regional Recycling Facility.

The AAP process requires that more than 10 percent of eligible voters deliver a response to Regional District offices to force the proposal to a wider consultation process, which normally is through a referendum process.

The Deadline for residents to register their response on the AAP, if inclined, is Thursday February 28th.
