Open Houses set for February for Ridley Terminal's dock expansion plan

With volumes increasing, a search for diversification underway and a new tenant in AltaGas on bard at Ridley Terminals, the North Coast industrial giant is looking to expand its shipping facilities, with plans in motion towards a proposed jetty expansion project.

As we outlined on the blog back in August of 2018, RTI provided a heads up on the project for Prince Rupert City Council, outlining how the jetty expansion would allow for the loading of two vessels simultaneously, which will allow Ridley to further diversify its shipment of products and commodities.

The two Open Houses for the North Coast are set for the first week of February, with sessions planned for both Prince Rupert and Port Edward.

Monday, February 4
Prince Rupert
Crest Hotel -- 222 1st Avenue West
3:30-6:30 PM

Tuesday, February 5
Port Edward
District of Port Edward Community Centre
770 Pacific Avenue, Port Edward
3:30 to 5:30 PM

Staff from Ridley Terminals,  as well as their consultants for the proposed project will be on hand to answer questions and explain some of the background to what RTI hopes to do with the expansion.

Residents of the region can also submit their questions and comments during the Open House or forward them by email during the 30 day public comment period that will run until March 4th.

To submit questions or comments forward them to rti_berth@rti.ca

While Ridley Terminals does host a website, they're going the old fashioned route when it comes to information delivery, with copies of the Project Description and the Environmental Effects Evaluation document to be available for review at three locations on February 12th.

Prince Rupert Chamber of Commerce
Prince Rupert Library
Prince Rupert Port Authority Interpretive Centre

RTI also notes that should anyone wish a digital copy of the documents they can request a copy in writing at rti_berth@rti.ca
