Council set to appoint Election Officers for November Municipal Election

2018 is a municipal election year in British Columbia, with Saturday, October 20th designated as General Election Day in the province, with balloting to take place to elect Mayor, Council and School District Board members to four year term of office.

As part of the preparation for the October vote, Prince Rupert City Council will receive a recommendation tonight that will have Council endorse the selection of two Officers for the electoral process.

Council will receive a report from the City Manager that will recommend that Corinne Bomben, the City's Chief Financial Officer be appointed to the position of Chief Elections Officer, with Mr. Antonio Vera, the City's Deputy Corporate Administrator, be appointed as Deputy Elections officer.

Their work will include the organization required for election day, including the preparation of ballots, designation of polling places, preparation of public notices and the hiring of election day workers.

Prince Rupert residents will be heading to the Civic Centre
on  Saturday October 20th, when province wide Municipal elections take place

The report notes for Council that the estimated cost for the election process will be 30,000 dollars, with part of that cost a shared component with School District 52 for the election services required for the election of School Board Trustees.

The Report was provided to Council from Robert Long, the City Manager for consideration at tonight's meeting.

You can review the report below, it is also included as part of tonight's City Council Agenda, located on page thirteen.
