Students in skilled trades programs with School District 52 will have some new equipment to work with over the next three years, as the Province of British Columbia announces funding for just over $92,000 for Prince Rupert.
The District will be using the money to purchase a foot metal shear, band saws and box and pan sheet metal brakes, the funding is part of ongoing funding initiatives across the province that are designed to increase the participation level and successful completion of trades programs at the secondary school level.
The Haida Gwaii School District was also part of yesterday's funding announcement, with SD50 to receive just over $131,000 over three years to be put toward the purchase of plasma cutters, table saws and CNC rotors.
More on the funding program for trades and the increased focus on trades training in the province can be reviewed as part of this funding announcement.
