Council will review a proposed Housing development for the Drake Crescent area tonight |
Council will give consideration to Second reading for a Zoning Bylaw related to the project which would see a mixed multi-family housing development built on a vacant lot in the Prince Rupert Boulevard and Drake Crescent area.
Aurora Resorts Incorporated of North Vancouver has proposed a mix of apartments and townhouses for the area in question, the review of their plans and range of documentation from the City planning department related to the development can be found from the Council agenda package starting at page 27.
The project was last reviewed by Prince Rupert Council in November of last year.
As part of tonight's proceedings, the City planner will recommend that the City give second reading to the proposed Zoning amendment and that a Public Hearing be set for February 9th just prior to the regularly scheduled Council Session that night.
The Public Hearing will provide area residents the opportunity to offer up their thoughts on the proposed development and is a requirement to move the process ahead.
Moving forward zoning amendments for housing development has at times been one of the more controversial discussion points at Prince Rupert Council, with Council members at times at odds over the nature of the housing stock that they wish to see developed in the community.
