Rupert's new Ensign flies high at Mariner's Park, City Hall

The City of Prince Rupert has rolled out the debut for the new Civic Flag, with the first unfurling of the new civic standard coming earlier this week at Mariner's Park

That as the new civic flag took its place on the mast alongside the Canadian and British Columbia flags overlooking the harbour.

Yesterday, the flag debuted on the flagstaff over the entrance to City Hall, providing for the first view of the new flag in its official setting above the entranceway.

The consensus design for the flag from City Council last fall

The new civic flag was celebrated by City Council in the fall of 2024, when the Council members came to a consensus after sending the design process back to staff for a few refinements.

The next possible location for a flag viewing should be inside the City Hall chamber itself.

Though as of Monday night's most recent public session, the new flag had yet to take its place over the shoulder of Mayor Herb Pond's in the chamber.

The new Civic flag will have it's province wide showcase later this year when the City of Prince Rupert delegation packs one in their carry on baggage.

That  for their  travels to Vancouver for the UBCM Convention from September 16-20.

Some background on the process towards the new flag can be reviewed below:
