The Public Hearing related to rezoning of land on 11th Avenue East, towards a proposed use for an apartment complex led by Lax Kw'alaams housing will resume on Monday evening |
Those with an interest in the next phase of consideration for the Lax Kw'alaams led housing proposal for the 11th Avenue East area, will want to make some time for a 6 PM Virtual Public Hearing session to be hosted by Prince Rupert City Council on Monday evening.
Two Notices for the Public Hearing have been posted to the City of Prince Rupert website today, the information including a link to the virtual session for those wishing to participate to make use of.
Of the two, one seems a bit out of date, with the second one (seen below) providing for some additional detail related to the public engagement planned for Monday.
The City's Corporate administrator will be back in the office at City Hall on Monday for those who may have more questions, or need clarification on how the public hearing process will go forward prior to the Regular Council session.
You can explore that session further from our notes of August 25th.
While the original session was an in-person event, Monday's will be through online participation using Zoom, that owing to COVID measures that are in place in the Northern Health Authority.
At the conclusion of the Public Hearing on Monday, City Council will then take up the topic further as part of the Regular Council session.
With council members to decide whether to give the bylaw request a third reading and then to further advise as to what the process for the proposed development will be.
As we outlined earlier this week, there has been some additional information made available for those that may be planning to participate in the Public Hearing to take a look at.
With a Technical memo available on the Council Agenda page; while a report from Rob Buchan, the City's contract planner was made available as part of the Agenda from the September Council session, a report which we featured here..
That report provided a few answers to some of the questions that residents had asked about prior to the suspension of the Public hearing in August.
More note on the Lax Kw'alaams led proposal, as well as other housing theme in the Prince Rupert area can be reviewed here.
A wider overview of past City Council Discussion topics is available here.
