Prince Rupert COVID count jumps to 15 for week of October 3-9


The level of new COVID cases reported in Northern BC continue to be of concern to Provincial health officials and for the first time in a number of weeks, the Prince Rupert region has reached double digits, with the data from the BC CDC showing 15 new cases reported from the week of October 3 to 9, 2021.

This week's numbers make for a jump of ten from last week's report of five.

While on the rise, Prince Rupert is still lower than many of the communities of the Northwest, with the Terrace, Bulkley and Nechako areas still of some significant concern.

The full review across the region looks as follows:

Smithers -- 73 cases
Nechako
 -- 65 cases
Terrace -- 54 cases
Burns Lake -- 31 cases
Upper Skeena --  25 cases
Kitimat -- 18 cases
Prince Rupert -- 15 cases
Snow Country-Stikine- Telegraph Creek -- 9 cases
Bella Coola Valley -- 4
 cases
Haida Gwaii -- 1 case
Nisga'a Region --
 1 case
Central Coast -- 0 cases


Wednesday's provincial report lists 67 new cases for Northern Health,  689 Active cases.

There are currently 87 residents of the North hospitalized from COVID , with 19 listed as requiring Critical Care.
