Lax Kw'alaams preparing to deliver their gift for 2020 to Band members

Members of the Lax Kw'alaams Band will be ringing in the year 2020 with some glad tidings from the Band government, with the Mayor and Council putting in motion their plan for a one time gift in the amount of 500 dollars.

The announcement of the application process for the cash distribution for members was released last week, shared through the Lax Kw'alaams website and Facebook page.

Among the notes for residents.

Eligible applicants must be Lax Kw’alaams Band members registered as such on November 30, 2019. For minors under the age of 18 as of November 30, 2019, applications must be made by the parent or official guardian on their behalf.

Individuals over the age of 18 as of November 30, 2019 must make their own application, either individually or with a spouse. Further documentation may be required if there is a shared custody arrangement in place.

A Gift Application Form must be completed by those who wish to be included in the cash distribution, with forms available through the Lax Kw'alaams Band Office or the Lax Kw'alaams Business Development Office in Prince Rupert.

A copy of the form is available on line as well, which can be accessed here.

The completed forms will be processed as they are received, with the Christmas office closure on the horizon, the Band does not anticipate that most applications will not be processed until January of 2020 which is when the cash distribution process will begin.
