BC Ferry Services looks to fill upcoming Board of Director positions

BC Ferries is looking to fill upcoming vacancies on its Board of Directors
with an extensive Search process now underway

With some vacancies on the horizon, BC Ferries is charting a course towards filling some positions on its Board of Directors, with the marine transportation service making use of an executive search firm to narrow down the candidates.

In a posting to the website for PFM Executive Search, the Ferry Service outlines the process ahead towards filling the positions, with the Search Agency describing the task ahead to seek out a highly qualified individual to join the already seasoned Board of Directors of business and community leaders who bring executive leadership, operational and business acumen and are connected to the coastal communities served by BC Ferries.

Among some of the qualities that the search team will be looking for  include:

Strong board governance skills with a commercial or non-profit entity, transportation or goods/people movement expertise

Tourism industry knowledge

Human resource leadership

Financial literacy plus exposure to public policy and proven support of diversity, inclusion and equity initiatives

They also note that as a member of the Board the successful applicants will need to be aware of a demanding level of activity plus have the capacity to work effectively, collegially and collaboratively with fellow Board Members in a complex operating company environment.

The focus for the Board in its work is the  responsibility for supervising the management of broad-based business operations of the company and for providing strategic direction to senior management while also ensuring there is an enterprise-wide focus on safety, service excellence and innovation.
