Tonight marks the only scheduled Council session for December for the city's elected representatives, with a busy evening lined up to wrap up the Council's work for 2018.
The evening starts off with a Public Hearing, that will chart the course ahead for the night as Council members provide for their final thoughts on the proposed zoning requirements that will allow for the sale of cannabis in the city.
The night will feature the last Committee of the Whole session for 2018, as well as to provide for one final opportunity for the public to offer up questions or comments to Council this year.
The Regular Session Agenda will continue to put a good bit of its focus on the recently held community consultation with the public on the city's proposed cannabis retail regulations, with Council to take those findings, the results of tonight's public hearing and some final recommendations from staff all into account as they look to move forward with their plans to introduce the sale of cannabis to the community.
Council members will also hear a report from the City's Financial Officer providing some background on the city's capital spending plans for the year ahead.
City Council members will also meet behind Closed Doors on Monday with a Special Closed Session planned for 5PM, the Council membership citing one element of the Community Charter for the closed session.
(k) negotiations and related discussions respecting the proposed provision of a municipal service that are at their preliminary stages and that, in the view of the council, could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality if they were held in public.
