UBCM Resolutions book ready for municipal review as September convention draws closer

Municipal government leaders, their senior staff and officials from the Union of British Columbia Municipalities all will be gathering in Whistler next month, with the annual convention of municipal government scheduled for the mountains north of Vancouver from September.

In preparation for the annual event which brings municipal, provincial and federal officials together, the UBCM has delivered the first look at this years lengthy list of resolutions to be considered.

In total, there are 208 resolutions listed from municipalities, regional districts and government associations across the province, covering every imaginable topic and seeking some form of agreement with federal or provincial governments in many cases.

Considering the range of topics that have made for discussion points at City Council over the last year, it's somewhat surprising to see that Prince Rupert will have but one resolution considered at this years convention.

That a call for action on the British Columbia Fishery.  The introduction for the resolution features one of the longest preambles offered up for consideration and can be examined from page 185 of the Resolutions Guide.

The Resolutions committee takes note of the range of actions requested and traces some of the past history of the UBCM on similar themes, the committee offered no recommendation on the City of Prince Rupert resolution.
