Providing those social services falls for the most part to volunteers in each community and in Prince Rupert the Emergency Social Service program is coordinated by the City of Prince Rupert which offers reception centres at times of emergency.
Working with businesses and other agencies, the ESS program locally provided assistance to those in need, providing for housing and food and other supports during times of activation.
Last week, we noted that the City had just released its Active Communities and Community Resource Guide and with it some background on the ESS program in the community and the call for volunteers to help out with the local program.
Towards that work, there will be a training opportunity offered on September 29th on Site Management, providing some background on the roles and responsibilities of the Emergency Social Services (ESS) management team. The course also provides participants with an opportunity to perform relevant activities and processes related to emergency situations.
