Prince Rupert School District 52 membership as of
August, nominations are now being received for those interested
in contesting the 2018 election for SD52 board

The upcoming election in October will provide the School District with an opportunity to finally return to a full complement of Board members.

SD52's Board operated one member short for three of its four year mandate following the resignation of Judy Carlick Pearson in November of 2015, that after her first year of service.

The School District never publicly announced it, but they seemingly decided not to move forward with a by-election to fill that seat over the course of the last few years.

That after a long running disagreement with City of Prince Rupert over the cost and city's process for hosting the required by-election to fill the empty spot.

The by-election issue and the city's handling of zoning of the Kanata School lands were two of the larger irritants between the School District and Prince Rupert City Council over the last four years.

Residents of the North Coast go to the polls on October 20th with municipal, regional and School District seats up for grabs for those candidates putting their names forward.
