New appointments and farewells have made for the theme for early May at the School District 52 Board office, with a New Human Resources head and a departing Principal among the notes from Arrivals and Departure Lounge at the 6th Avenue East offices.
The School District has introduced Mr. Ian Larocque as the new Human Resources Department head, effective June 7th, Mr. Larocque holds a Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in Human Resource management and has been recognized by the Human Resources Management Association as a Chartered Professional in Human Resources.
His most recent work has been in the field of the construction and banking sector, as he takes to his work his partner Kelsi will be putting her expertise in Early Childhood Education to work in Prince Rupert.
Mr. Larocque replaces Dave Carter, who was hired to the post by SD52 in May of 2017, the information release from SD52 provides no indication as to the status of Mr. Carter with the District.
The Human Resources position has proven to be a challenging one for the School District to fill in recent years, with a few arrivals and departures for the job since Kathy Gomez las held the position on a full time basis two years ago.
There will also be some movement around the School District's school management listings, starting with the departure of Christin Blair, who will be leaving SD52 at the end of the school year to take up duties at a middle school in Chilliwack.
The School District made note of her contributions to the Middle School and thanked her for her service to the District.
Moving into the Vice-Principal duties at the Prince Rupert Middle School will be Peter Scott, who crosses town from duties as Vice Principal at Ecole Roosevelt Park Community School.
Taking over the VP position at Roosevelt will be James Zlantanov, who has held a number of positions since beginning his career with SD52 as a Teacher on Call back in 2014.
Kevin Leach will return to his full time duties as Vice Principal at Charles Hays Secondary, while Kerri Levelton currently the Principal at Conrad Elementary will now add the duties of Principal of Port Edward Community School to her resume.
The School District is also expanding the footprint of the Technology sector, naming Paramjit Khaira to the part time role of Vice Principal of Innovation and Technology. He will also maintain his duties as Vice Principal at Conrad Elementary.
