City Council Preview: Monday, May 28, 2018

Prince Rupert City Council comes together tonight
with a  rather light Agenda for their final meeting for May

It could be a fairly short night of civic governance tonight, depending mostly on what range of topics, if any, that the public may bring to the open microphone segment of the Committee of the Whole portion of tonight's Council Session.

Only two items are noted in the Agenda for the Regular Council session, both of which put some focus on the Recreation Centre, with a partnership plan with the Prince Rupert Rampage for the Arena of note, as well as some background on the plans for a celebration to reopen the Doug Kerr field at the Civic Centre.

Beyond that, there are only a few housekeeping items on the Agenda for tonight, along with the opportunity for Council members to raise topics of note or concern since their last gathering of two weeks ago.

The Committee of the Whole process  opens the evening's public portion of the night, taking place just before the Regular Council session.

Council Members will also meet in a Closed Session at 5 PM:

With Council choosing to close the doors for the following criteria: 90.1 ((k) negotiations and related discussions respecting the proposed provision of a municipal service that are at their preliminary stages and that, in the view of the council, could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality if they were held in public.

The theme for the material that appears set to be covered in the 5 PM sessions, could see that the Closed to the public session for Council may last longer than the one that is open to the public.
