Departures and Admin Changes ahead for SD52
As the 2016-17 School year heads towards June and the summer break, the plans for 2017-18 are already in motion with a number of staffing changes ahead for School administration in Prince Rupert.
Last month SD52 outlined some of those changes, taking note of pending retirements and reallocation of staffing resources with two new principals set to take up duties in August.
Lax Keen Elementary will see a change with Susan Kozba moving from her current post at Pacific Coast School, to take on the duties of Principal at the elementary school. She will take over the position previously held by Kathy Dann, who will return to a teaching position in September. Mrs. Dann who has been with the District since 1987 has previously served as a Vice-Principal and Principal at a number of schools.
The open position at Pacific Coast School will be filled by Mr. Jeremy Janz, who takes over at the Ocean Centre campus in August. He has been with the District since 2012 and previously taught in Hartley Bay, his most recent assignment with SD52 has been with the Pacific Coast School where he has been engaging with students on technology driven classes.
Pineridge Elementary will be getting a new Vice-Principal for September, Deb Taylor has announced her retirement which takes effect as of July, bringing to a close her time with the School District which started in 2005.
Moving into the Vice-Principals office at Pineridge will be Mackenzie Hubbell, who started her career with SD52 in 2009 as a teacher on call. Since then she has primarily been found at Prince Rupert Middle School, with occasional assignments at Charles Hays Secondary. She brings her background as a learning services teacher to her new post at the west side elementary school.
As we noted in February, the School District announced that Superintendent Sandra Jones had tendered her letter of retirement, her replacement is Mr. Ken Minette, currently the SD52 Assistant Superintendent, he takes up his duties in July.
You can review some further background on the upcoming changes from this information release from SD52.
