Council to receive update on Moresby Fuel tank removal project tonight

Council will review its plans for the
decommissioning of old WW2 fuel tanks
that are located off of Park Avenue in
Moresby Park

Council will return to the topic of the decommissioning of the Moresby Fuel tank this evening, first through a presentation from the City's Director of Operations Ricahrd Pucci, who along with Robert Grodecki of the North Coast-Skeena First Nations Stewardship Society will provide an update on their efforts to seek a grant towards the required work.

Their presentation to Council will be followed later in the evening with Mr. Pucci providing a report to Council that outlines some of the concerns related to the situation in Moresby Park.

As well, Mr. Pucci may outline more background on the partnership that the City is forming with the North Coast-Skeena First Nations Stewardship Society to address the decommissioning issues.

Council first addressed the issue early October of 2015, with Mayor Brain noting through a press release at that time that: “It’s time to take action,” ... “These tanks have been here since WWII. It’s time for us to get on top of these longstanding issues in the community.” 

The tanks date back to the Second World War and recently became an issue again when  minor tear occurred in one of the old bunker sea oil tanks located in the park.
