City Council Preview: Monday, March 7 , 2016
Council comes in like a lamb for the most part for Prince Rupert City Council with a fairly light agenda for Council members to tackle tonight.
Tonight's gathering at Prince Rupert City Hall features a pair of reports one on some proposed work to be done by the Prince Rupert Rowing and Yacht Club, the other in response to a request from Councillor Blair Mirau, providing Council members with background on the Ridley Island Tax Sharing Agreement,
Council will also receive a pair of correspondences to consider letters of support from Council for a pair of local initiatives, while the City's Chief Financial Office will deliver a report related to the Cow Bay Marina Fees and Regulations.
A late item for Council tonight will see Council members consider moving the status of the Kanata School lands from tabled to a second reading, setting up the process for a public hearing for the property in question.
Council members will bring the evening to an end with an opportunity to raise any concerns or questions that they may have, while there will also be another update on the progress of the Housing Committee.

Report from the City Planner related to a Development Permit Application from the Prince Rupert Rowing and Yacht Club -- Council will review a background report on proposed work at Yacht Club which includes the demolition of the current Clubhouse and expansion of a new one as well as an increase to the parking lot ( See page 10 of the Agenda )
Report from the Chief Financial Officer on the Ridley Island Tax Sharing Agreement -- In a response to a request from last Council meeting by Councillor Blair Mirau, Ms. Corinne Bomben will deliver a report to Council that provides background on the various aspects of the Ridley Island Tax Sharing Agreement. ( See page 25 of the Agenda )
Correspondence For Action
Council will receive a letter from the Museum of Northern BC regarding a request for a letter of support for a Security Upgrade and Installation project ( See page 29 of the Agenda )
Council will receive a letter from Mr. Brett Ross, regarding a request for a letter of support to host the 2017 Junior All Native Basketball Tournament ( See page 30 of the Agenda )
Bylaws mark the next item of the Agenda on the night.
Report from the Chief Financial Officer -- Background on the Cow Bay Marina Fees and Regulation Bylaw, with a recommendation for First, Second and third readings (page 31 of the Agenda)
A Late addition to the meeting will see Council give consideration to Lift the status of Tabled and take the Kanata School land to second reading and a Public Hearing (see here)
The evening then moves on to Additional Items from Council members, as well as Reports, Questions and Inquiries from Members of Council.
Council will hear an update from the Mayor on the Housing Committee providing the latest developments from their efforts.
