An advertisement for a number of positions from NRI Global has the Ontario based industrial company looking for a workers for a range of requirements related to the start up of the work ahead.
The Ontario company was announced as having provided the successful bid for the work from the city's request for proposal of earlier this year. No terms were outlined as to the overall cost of the work planned on the Watson Island site that will see areas of the old pulp mill site decommissioned and demolished.
As for the jobs currently available, among the positions that applications are now being accepted for are:
Vaccum Truck Operator for Hazardous Waste
Millwright
Forklift Operator and Dismantler
General Labourers

Last week we outlined the details of an announcement from the City of Prince Rupert which provided the background to the two year project.
It's anticipated that work will get underway in September.
On Friday afternoon, the City's Chief Financial Officer Corinne Bomben, by way of an email note to television station CFTK, outlined the process ahead for the project (see story here)
Though Ms. Bomben could not provide any dollar figure on the cost of the clean up project, nor could she offer up any further update on the status of the current legal issues over title on the land between the City and the Watson Island Development Corporation that is holding back any potential sale of the property.
As part of her correspondence with CFTK she noted that work continues to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
