Signs of Respect across Prince Rupert at the passing of former Prime Minister Mulroney

The Prince Rupert Detachment of the RCMP is one of
a number of institutions paying respect at the passing of
former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney this week

The news last week at the passing of the 18th Prime Minister of Canada Brian Mulroney has seen federal and provincial offices make observation of his death by the lowering of flags across BC and Canada.

In Prince Rupert, the Post Office building which is the focal point for Federal Services has put the flag at half staff, as has the Province at the Court House and the school's around the city.

So far, the City of Prince Rupert has yet to follow their lead when it comes to the protocol of political passings.

The former Prime Minister died on Thursday at the age of 84, there are plans for a State Funeral to mark his passing, though no details have been released as of yet as to when that will take place.

In addition to the statement above from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Mr. Mulroney's passing was noted by current US President Joe Biden as well as former US President George W Bush.

We compiled some of the observations from across Canada from last week on news of his passing, posting them to our political blog D'Arcy McGee.

Cross posted from the North Coast Review.
