MLA's Week: March 4-7, 2024

For members of the British Columbia Legislature, this third week of the Spring Session was a week ending in controversy and concerning accusations.

That following the resignation from the BC NDP Caucus of former Cabinet Minister Selina Robinson, the now Independent MLA noting of her concerns over the level of anti semitism found within her now former party.

The resignation and discussion on how the Government has handled issues of anti semitism carried much of the Thursday Question Period; along with the news coverage coming out  of Victoria.

For North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice, this week brought a chance to celebrate a Federal funding announcement which took place at the Legislature.

With the Canadian Government awarding 77.2 million dollars in infrastructure funding to the City of Prince Rupert.

This week also saw another round of funding for the provincial FOUNDRY program which provides services for youth in British Columbia. Though as it has been since the program started, once again Prince Rupert was not included in the roll out for the next locations.

This week did provide for an opportunity for Ms Rice to note of the next step for the province's communication connectivity infrastructure program, as the MLA updated CityWest plans for Harley Bay

On Friday evening a concerning issue for MLA Rice's home constituency saw the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital Emergency Department closed from Friday overnight to Saturday morning.

An issue of note for the Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Health that likely will make for some contact with her office from her constituents this coming week.

As for more on the work from the House, the sessions of the week  unfolded for the three regional MLA's as follows:
