Yesterday Lax Kw'alaams Mayor Garry Reece issued a new advisory for its members, noting that 'increased risk is now being anticipated in Prince Rupert and Lax Kw'alaams Members are advised that COVID-19 has now appeared in Prince Rupert."
The Advisory which is now the 12th such update for the community also outlines that Band officials continue to monitor the situation closely and while not in a mind to shut down the community at the moment, they could take such action in the future if required.
The Band also reminds residents of some of their previous COVID related guidelines and observe that with the Spirit of Lax Kw'alaams Ferry set to resume service on Friday they will have COVID related measures in place for the transit of the Ferry to and from Prince Rupert.
"As most of you are aware, the Spirit of Lax Kw’Alaams will be back in service on Friday afternoon and regular ferry sailings will resume. Council is implementing a policy whereby everyone MUST wear a mask, whether you are in a vehicle or not. Passengers interact with our crew, especially when making payment, so please wear your mask to protect our staff and yourself. No mask, no service."Cross posted from the North Coast Review.
