Today is the last day for those who may wish to provide Day Care Services at the Civic Centre to indicate their interest |
Those who who may want to explore the possibility of operating Day Care services through a leased space at the Civic Centre, have until the end of today to indicate their interest in the City's call for applications.
Yesterday the City issued the last call for applicants through their Facebook page with the deadline to submit forms coming up at 4PM today.
The notice also included a link towards more information and the online form for those looking to apply for the space, which will be leased out at a cost of $1,593.08 per month or just over $19,000 a year.
As the City notes in their information release on the plan, the purpose of the Request for Expressions of Interest (EOI) is to solicit applications from qualified Child Care providers in the community who desire to move into this space and increase their available child care spaces, or to operate a new licensed facility within the space.
Information provided by the successful applicant will help to inform the City's application to the BC New Child Care Spaces Fund. If the application is successful, funds will be used to complete the renovations required to accommodate this potential new use.
The 1,572.5 Square feet of Space that the City plans to make available to the successful proponent is in the upper level of the main complex at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre.
The move to offer up some of the Civic Centre as a leasing opportunity seems to have come out the city's previous work on Child Care themes from earlier this year.

The need for expanded Day Care spaces in the city has been identified in the past as a key ingredient towards addressing shift work issues and recruitment and retention of workers in the community.
With the deadline for expressions of interest arriving at 4PM today, the members of City Council may be able to provide an update on the theme next Monday when the meet in the final Council meeting for the month of October.
