Masks On! A New regulation comes into effect for air travel in Canada, including seaplane service out of Seal Cove

With Air Canada having suspended its flight options out of Prince Rupert's Digby Island Airport until the end of May at the earliest, the only commercial aviation taking place in Prince Rupert at the moment comes out of the Seal Cove Seaplane base, with occasional flights making their way to a range of destinations.

As of 9AM today, there is a new regulation in effect for those who travel out of Seal Cove, with Transport Canada issuing an advisory that all passengers must now wear Face Masks while travelling on scheduled air services, the order also is in effect for those using the Terrace Airport, the only airport that continues to host Air Canada and West Jet service to the region.

When travelling by air, travellers will be asked to cover their mouth and nose:

at Canadian airport screening checkpoints, where the screeners cannot always keep two metres of separation between themselves and the traveller;

when they cannot physically distance from others, or as directed by the airline employees;

and when directed to do so by a public health order or public health official.

The regulation is also one that is "encouraged" by Transport Canada for those travelling on marine options for travel such as Ferries.

Inland Air made note of the new requirement as part of the Social Media stream on Sunday.
