The words will be ringing off the walls at the Lester Centre on Saturday morning, as the Prince Rupert Toastmaster pay tribute to MP Nathan Cullen |
If you like to take in a good speech, you should make the Lester Centre of the Arts your Saturday destination as the Prince Rupert Toastmasters pay tribute to the work of soon to be retired MP Nathan Cullen.
Saturday morning, the local Toastmasters will be presenting the Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP with the North Coast Communication and Leadership Award and along the way there will be a few words to share on his work and commitment to the region.
The award celebrates Mr. Cullen’s substantial contributions in the areas of communication and leadership in his role as the Member of Parliament for the Skeena-Bulkley Valley for the past 15 years.
The event will feature speeches presented to Mr. Cullen and his reciprocated acceptance address.
For those in Toastmasters, the address from Mr. Cullen should make for a bit of a Masters' Class in speech making, with the long serving MP from Skeena-Bulkley Valley considered one of the best orators in Parliament of our modern time.
His past speeches in the Commons making for must watch events as he tackled the major issues of the day, and those legendary commentaries have served to find him receiving a range of awards including Parliamentarian of the Year and Best Orator (twice) to name a few.
A sample of some of that zeal for the English language will be on display Saturday at the 11 AM event.
For those looking for more information about the Toastmasters program in Prince Rupert, they meet every Tuesday at the Lester Centre of the Arts from 7:30 to 9PM.
They resume their Fall season on Tuesday, September 10th.
Learn more about their work from their website, or social media outposts of Facebook and twitter
