Monday marks start of work for new Metlakatla Council
The Metlakatla First Nation will be swearing in the newly elected Council membership on Monday morning, marking the event with a community gathering from 10AM to Noon at the Metlakatla Community Hall.
In an invitation to Metlaktala members, the Council hopes to see those in the community join to share appreciation of the previous council and to offer their support towards the re-elected and new members of the new Council.
As part of Monday's celebration, a community lunch will follow in the Multi-purpose room from Noon to 1PM
The Metlakatla Council election was conducted on August 28th and returned Chief Councillor Harold Leighton to office for his 32nd year of leadership for the community.
Joining Mr. Leighton on the Metlakatla Council will be:
Alvin Leask, Alrita Leask, Miranda Leighton, Darci Nelson, James Nelson, Robert Nelson
