Cancer Care improvements the focus for North Coast Health Improvement Society in 2018




A local organization which is dedicated to improving Health Care on the North Coast has launched its 2018 initiative, with the North Coast Health Improvement Society making an upgrade to the Cancer Care Unit at the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital its fundraising theme for this year.

The organization released some background information on this years project yesterday, providing the details through a post to their Facebook page.

The goal for this years fundraising efforts is between 150,000 and 200,000 dollars which be put towards upgrades in treatment technology, increased comfort for patients and families and to add functional privacy to the Cancer Care Unit.

The CCU at Prince Rupert Regional Hospital administers radiation treatments, offers preventive screening and provides counselling for patients and families.

The staff of the Prince Rupert Hospital unit provides help to over 800 patients a year on the North Coast.

The North Coast Health Improvement Society was incorporated in 2002 and is a registered charity and has provided for fundraising to purchase equipment for the community in the past, as they move forward with their efforts this year more details will be relayed through the Society Facebook Page.
