The Multi purpose room at Northwest Community College is the venue for a vigil of remembrance over the noon hour today as Prince Rupert's North Coast Transition Society hosts the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women.
The horrific events of December 6th, 1989 saw fourteen women at the Montreal university campus murdered because they were women, an event would forever be known as the Montreal Massacre.
As part of the commemoration of December 6th, the Montreal Gazette has produced a short video of remembrance dedicated to the victims of the 1989 murders.
Today's noon hour vigil in Prince Rupert will feature local speakers and words of remembrance and a re-dedication towards eliminating violence against women, the noon hour commemoration will be followed by a candle light vigil. All are welcome to attend.
