On Monday it was announced that four Prince Rupert businesses benefiting from the grant funding through the Northern Development Initiative Trust. The money was accessed through an application by the City of Prince Rupert to the NDIT with the funds to be administered by the Prince Rupert and Port Edward Economic Development office
The four local businesses named Monday included Eddies News, Seasport Marine, e'Klectic Trading and McKenzie Furniture.
In an information release from Monday, Paul Venditelli, the Economic Development Officer with the Development office outlined the background to the grant program.
"The program is a great way for businesses to fund the physical improvements that really draw customers in off the street. Façade improvements are a mainstay of economic revitalization efforts in downtown areas across Canada, and we are happy to be able to support local improvements to businesses with the help of NDIT ... The goal of the program is to encourage owners of buildings to invest in upgrades that create a more interesting and appealing environment – attracting customers, clients, visitors and businesses to the community"In an information release from Monday, Paul Venditelli, the Economic Development Officer with the Development office outlined the background to the grant program.
