Election night probably seems months back now, Prime Minister elect Justin Trudeau takes office on Wednesday and announces his cabinet |
Tomorrow is Cabinet Day in Canada (TM and suitable musical theme pending for the CBC) where it appears the major Canadian news networks will be focused on just who wanders up the path to power in a fall Ottawa morning.
With television cameras set to record the day's events starting with the walk of the cabinet members at 9:45 AM to Rideau Hall in Ottawa (perhaps a new Canadian tradition), all that seems missing is for someone to deliver the bouquet of roses for this Canadian political equivalent of The Bachelor.
The Prime Minister has already stated that his cabinet will be one of equity, with a sharing of space around the cabinet table to be equally shared between women and men.
Some have wondered if that blue print may leave a number of valuable members sitting outside the cabinet room doors by the time Wednesday afternoon rolls around.
If so, you can probably find some of the disconsolate souls burning off some testosterone at the House of Commons fitness facility as Cabinet Day turns into night.
The pre cabinet rumination has provided for no shortage of opinions as to how Prime Minister Trudeau will address regional balances, fill some of the key portfolios and make for a mix of new faces and a few familiar names, most likely at some of the more important ministries.
