Friday, November 13th delivered yet another senseless act of terror for the world to sit transfixed by, sewing fear in one of the worlds great cities, rattling others in disbelief.
All as Paris, a city claimed by the world, once again found itself the target for horror and death.
With a toll of over 130 now deceased and hundreds more injured, the coordinated attacks on the French capital left many shocked at the cold and calculated way in which the terrorists brought slaughter to the streets once again.
The review of Friday evening led into the weekend and as the globe watched, the times we live in played out across the screens of the all news channels, reporters and anchors scrambling for details, background an some sense of understanding, often running with but rumour and not much else.
Friday's violence followed by short hours the previous events in Lebanon of the day before, where two suicide bombings took 43 lives and injured over 240 more. Explosions that struck the heart of the nation in Beirut, a city once known as the Paris of the Middle East and more recently an arena for terror that has been the epicentre of sorrow for decades.

The two cities now united in sorrow, though for the Lebanese the world quickly it seems shifted the focus to the French capital, a lapse of compassion that should be noted, an error of omission that should be redressed.
The events from both countries provide a reminder of an evil that continues to stalk the world and holds no sense of conscience or humanity, no soul in sight to guide those that wish to deliver only carnage.
The weekend has offered up another moment of test for the resolve of nations around the world.
A challenge that will once again call for hard decisions from our leaders and the need to stand firm to our belief that the good in humankind will prevail, even if on days like these, that concept becomes harder and harder to embrace.
