Prince Rupert Council to raise a number of issues in UBCM discussions

The annual fall convention of municipal governance in British Columbia is underway in Vancouver as the member communities of the UBCM prepare to meet to discuss issues of concern to their regions, as well as to share those notes with provincial ministers.

At the end the City Council session of last week Mayor Lee Brain outlined the list of names of Prince Rupert Councillors planning to join him at this week's proceedings at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

With Councillors Cunningham, Randhawa, Mirau, Niesh, as well as a number of members of Senior City Staff all to be packing a suitcase for the road trip to Vancouver.

Prince Rupert's delegation will be looking to share information on and seek out some communication with provincial ministers to discuss what the Mayor described as the spectrum of society in the community.

Among some of the topics that the Council members will be bringing with them are infrastructure concerns, housing issues, health, education and a number of items related to the prospect of major industrial growth in the region, with a focus on LNG development for the North Coast.
