North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice is looking for a timeline from the provincial government when it comes to delivery of an air shed study conducted on the North Coast.
The report was scheduled for a completion date of May 2015, but to this point no information has been released related to any of the findings from that review.
In a letter from last week addressed to the Honourable Mary Polak, the British Columbia Environment Minister, Ms. Rice notes that the Prince Rupert Airshed study is a key aspect of information gathering when it comes to industrial development on the North Coast, particularly the development of the proposed LNG Terminal projects for the region.
The MLA further observes that the information needs to be released as soon as possible, so that any development decisions made for the Prince Rupert and surrounding areas have the latest information when it comes to health and air quality issues for the region.
Should she not gain access to the report or receive a reply in short order to her request, Ms. Rice will soon be able to make her request in person and in the public chamber of the British Columbia Legislature.
The Liberal Government of Premier Christy Clark has indicated that the Legislature will resume sitting in its fall session starting on September 28th.
