City Council Preview: Monday, November 5, 2018
The new Municipal Class of 2018 will take their seats tonight at Prince Rupert City Hall, with the newly elected membership taking their oaths of office and making ready to get down to the work at hand for the next four years of their term of office.
Delivered to the Council chamber from the election night results of October 20th, this installation of the City Council will mark a significant shift in composition from the past membership around the City Hall chamber.
That after the 30 percent of eligible voters that cast a ballot in the October election selected an all male Council contingent to serve for the next four years
When it comes to their first night of elected office, the council will be eased into their duties, with the Agenda on the evening a rather light one.
The council to do list made up for the most part of appointments to various Boards that the City of Prince Rupert has representation on, as well as to set the Acting Mayor duties for the year ahead and the approval of the Council schedule for 2019.
If the path of four years ago is also to be followed, residents may hear from Mayor Lee Brain, who four years ago delivered a short preview of what this Council hoped to achieve through the Class of 2014's tenure and who may offer a similar update of talking points for what is ahead at tonight's debut.
