With Ken Minette set for Grand Forks departure, SD52 is back on the search for a Superintendent of Schools

After close to thirty years of service in education on the North Coast, Ken Minette is fixing his compass for a Southeast direction, with the SD52 Superintendent set to move on to School District 51 - Bondary region, located in the Grand Forks area for the start of the 2018-19 school year.

School District 52 Board Chair Tina Last shared the word of his pending departure on Monday through an information statement, offering the thanks and best wishes of the Board for the work of the Superintendent through the years.

"The school district has benefited from Ken's leadership for almost 30 years. We thank him for his service and wish him well in his position of Superintendent of Schools for School District 51 (Boundary)"

Mr. Minette was appointed to his position of Superintendent in Prince Rupert in February of 2017, taking up his duties in August of last year.

With his resignation, he will be leaving SD52 as of July 31st, bringing to a close a career on the North Coast that began in 1989 when he joined the staff at Booth Memorial Junior Secondary School.

Through his thirty years in Prince Rupert he took on a number of duties as a teacher, counsellor, Vice-Principal at Charles Hays Secondary and as Principal of Prince Rupert Middle School as SD52 transitioned into the Middle School bridge between elementary and secondary school programs.

Prior to his appointment as Superintendent last year, Mr. Minette had served as the District's Director of Instruction and as Assistant Superintendent.

Mr. Minette's next career move will see him watching over a large area of the province's southern Okanagan region that covers an area south of Kelowna to the US border, with the Board office based in Grand Forks.

The Boundary School District consists of 11 schools: 8 elementary, 2 secondary and 1 alternative school. The Board is home to 1200 students and 200 employees.

As part of their staff recruitment program SD51 makes note of a four day work week and the opportunity for numerous professional development benefits, as well as the recreational and lifestyle features that the Southern Okanagan region has to offer.

In her announcement of Monday, Ms, Last advises that School Board 52 will begin its search for a new Superintendent of Schools in the near future.
