The call for support was posted to the UFAWU Facebook page on Sunday evening, noting that union representatives Conrad Lewis and Arnold Nagy will be making a presentation to Council members.
As part of that presentation, Council members will be asked to provide the support of the City of Prince Rupert towards a push by the union to have the Federal Government put in place similar legislation as that which exists with the East Coast fishery.
Some background on that proposed legislation can be found from our notes on a presentation that the Union made to the Prince Rupert Chamber of Commerce in late November.
Towards that request, the item has been added to the Agenda for this evenings session. With the following recommendation added as part of the council review for tonight.
UFAWU has requested an opportunity to make a presentation to Council tonight |
Tonight's council session starts at 7 PM.
UFAWU requested the opportunity to appear in front of Council through a letter to the City from earlier this month.
