MLA'S Week: June 14-17, 2021



Work towards Reconciliation, Indigenous affairs, LNG and travel across the Highway 16 corridor marked much of the final week of discussion for the three Northwest MLA's as at the summer session of the BC legislature came to an end, sending MLA's to their summer plans through to the start of October.

As for more on the recent week of work from the House, the four days unfolded as follows:

On the week, Ms Rice was mentioned twice in the record for the week in the Legislature from June 14-17

Her contribution to the Legislature debate included a presentation on National Indigenous History Month and themes of reconciliation on Monday morning (11:05 AM)

Tuesday afternoon Ms. Rice provided some thoughts on the state of transportation along the highway sixteen corridor. (10:12 AM)

The North Coast MLA is also a member of the Following committees:




Ms. Rice serves as the Government's Parliamentary Secretary for Emergency Preparedness

For our readers from the Terrace-Kitimat region, Skeena MLA Ellis Ross  was  mentioned three times in the record for the week in the Legislature from June 14-17

Monday morning the Skeena MLA spoke to the theme of past agreements as part of Reconciliation in British Columbia (11:50 AM)

Tuesday morning the future for LNG development in British Columbia made for a theme for Mr. Ross (10:15 AM)

In the Wednesday session, the Liberal MLA called on the Horgan government to activate the Aboriginal Affairs Committee (2:05 PM)


Mr. Ross is currently the BC Liberal's Opposition Critic for Environment and Climate Change Strategy.

The Skeena MLA is also contesting for the leadership of the BC Liberal Party

Mr. Cullen serves as the Government's Minister of State for Lands and Natural Resource Operations

The week brought the Summer Session of the Legislature to a close.

MLA's will return to the Legislature in the fall, with Monday, October 4th noted as the date of resumption for proceedings.
