Port Edward and Province of BC exploring potential for new campground in the District; Council hears concerns from staff over garbage issues in region

The Province of BC and District of Port Edward are exploring the
potential for another campground in the region

If all the plans fall in to space, residents of the North Coast and visitors to the region (when visiting is once again encouraged) may soon have a new place to pitch a tent or roll the camper into.

At last week's District of Port Edward Council meeting,  Danielle Myles Wilson, the District's Chief Administration Officer provided a short synopsis of the prospects for a future campground, noting that discussions with the province are underway towards the project.

The proposed campground notes also were shared by the District Council through their Social media stream late last week, along with a short geography quiz of sorts.

No timeline towards how that project will move forward has been released to this point by the District.

Ms. Myles Wilson's report which is available from the Port Edward District Council Agenda page, also focused on some local concerns over garbage services both within the town and to areas where the District has been providing a service at some popular local spots.

The main thrust of the report served to highlight some issues of abuse and vandalism to local facilities and some solutions for the District to consider.

Among some of the moves already made and the options for consideration, replacement of dumpsters with bear bin garbage cans and the elimination of collection services at some of the non District ares of responsibility.

More notes related to the District can be explored from our archive page.
