The City of Prince Rupert has offered up a subtle hint through the city website to its commercial, light and Major Industry taxpayers as well as those of not for profit properties, that your date for payment is fast approaching with September 30th the last day to get your cash in to the city.
Those who are tardy with their payments by the September 10th deadline are subject to a 10 percent penalty.
In an information release from Thursday, the City outlined more background on the penalty date provisions in place for this year.
This penalty date was adjusted by the Provincial Government for these (non-residential) classes of taxpayers this year in response to COVID-19, and was an extension of the usual penalty date that is otherwise applied in early July of each year.Yesterday's relay of information also provided some advice on the range of payment measures available for taxpayers.
The Tax Payment notice wasn't the only Tax related notes provided by the City this week, as we outlined earlier this morning, the City will hold the Annual Tax Property Sale on Monday, September 28th, you can learn more about that potential buying opportunity here.
Despite some calls for a tax relief break for residents this year, City Council chose to stay with their traditional payment due dates, with residential payers delivering their payment on July 2nd.
More notes on Tax related themes from City Council can be reviewed here.
