Harbour watchers in Prince Rupert will want to keep an eye out for a new vessel making its way to a berth at the Westview Pellet Terminal in the near future, that as Pinnacle Renewable Energy introduces the MV New Pinnacle, a chartered vessel from NYK Bulk and Projects Carriers, which will be part of the company's shipment service to Asia.

Pinnacle released the details of the new vessel on Thursday, noting how the charter is an important element in Pinnacle's approach to logistics. The use of the new vessel marks the increased focus for Asia that Pinnacle has followed over the last year.

"The logistics model we are using will provide both ourselves and our customers the widest possible delivery flexibility at the lowest possible cost, and further opens the significant Japanese market to Pinnacle. We very much look forward to servicing our Japanese customers with this brand new Japanese built vessel." -- Vaughan Bassett, Senior Vice President for Sales and Logistics for Pinnacle  Renewable Energy.

The arrangement with NYK comes after Pinnacle signed three contracts with customers in Japan over the past six months, underscoring both Japan's strong commitment to decarbonization and the strength of Pinnacle's competitive position in this market.

The vessel which will be flagged in Panama, has been undergoing sea trials through much of this month as it prepares to go into regular service crossing the Pacific Ocean between North American and Asia.

The MN NEW PINNACLE is 180 metres by 30 metres and features a draught of 6 metres, its speed when underway will be 15.4 knots.

You can watch for its arrival in Prince Rupert from the Port of Prince Rupert's Daily Shipping notices.
