The Provincial minister tasked with Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation will be on the North Coast tomorrow, as Scott Fraser spends time with residents of Lax Kw'alaams at a Community Meet and Greet at the Elders Lounge.
The meeting provides an opportunity for residents of the community north of Prince Rupert to hear of the latest steps on reconciliation from the Provincial Government as well as to raise issues or make comments about relations between the government and the First Nation.
One topic that may be part of tomorrow's event could be some further background on the Provincial government's Indigenous Housing Fund (see here and here) which has the BC Government set to invest over 550 million dollars over the next ten years for new social housing for both on and off reserve locations.
Mr. Fraser, a former Mayor of Tofino on Vancouver Island was appointed to the cabinet of Premier John Horgan following last years General election victory, his mandate letter for his Ministry can be reviewed here.
The Lax Kw'alaams gathering starts tomorrow at Noon and continues through to 1:30.
There is no indication from the website for the Ministry if there are other stops scheduled for Mr. Fraser's trip north this week.
You can follow his travels through his twitter feed and Facebook page
