City Council Preview: Tuesday, September 4, 2018

The first session following the unofficial end of summer is also the only session this month prior to the Council trek to Whistler and this years UBCM convention from September 10 to 14.

Judging by the Agenda preview on the night, the proceedings on the evening should be fairly quick, with few items listed that should take up too much of the Council members time.

Of the short list of work, Council will hear of a variance request for a property on Shawatlans  Road, and reappoint three members to the Prince Rupert Library Board of Directors.

Council will also review a request from Councillor Joy Thorkelson related to her request that Council forward a letter to the Federal Government to oppose the sale of Ridley Terminals.

Council will also meet in Closed Session at 5PM  prior to Monday's Regular Session, the need to go behind the closed doors was explained through the Community Charter as follows:

90.1 (k) negotiations and related discussions respecting the proposed provision of a municipal service that at their preliminary stages and that, in the view of the council, could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality if they were held in public.

You can review the Full Agenda Packages for the Regular Council Session from the City's website here.
