Early to work and early to rise will get Prince Rupert Council back into summer quickly on Monday

The delivery of municipal governance this month will have an early start time, with Prince Rupert City Council serving notice that Council session scheduled for Monday, July 23rd will be moved up a couple of hours from its traditional 7 PM start time.

The only public council session for the month of July will start at 5:15 on Monday, which will also host the Committee of the Whole opportunity for the month, providing Prince Rupert residents with a chance to raise items of concern or comment on civic matters.

Moving the Public Council session to the dinner hour may have some impact on turnout however, with any interested residents perhaps more inclined towards taking care of family dinner time obligations, over taking in the latest talking points from the city's elected officials.

As it is, Prince Rupert City Council's summer schedule is a rather light one to begin with, with only two council sessions taking place in July and August.

By comparison, around the Northwest Terrace, Kitimat and Smithers have all scheduled at least two council sessions a month (more in the case of Kitimat)  through the summer.
