Provincial recognition for CityWest project with Northwest schools

Working on solutions for technology requirements in Northwest schools has gained CityWest some provincial recognition, with the Prince Rupert based communication company presented with one of the Premier's Innovation  and Excellence Awards, which recognizes work across British Columbia.

The CityWest project received its accolades in the Organization Excellence category and is related to their participation in the K-12 Public School Next Generation Network, which has provided for enhanced connectivity for School Districts in Prince Rupert and Terrace.

In a background piece released today, Donovan Dias,  CityWest's Vice President of Sales an Project Management outlined the nature of the work that City West took on in both communities.

“Essentially, the new network paves the way for local schools to not only benefit today from an advanced network, but also be in a position to take advantage of future capabilities and trends,”  ...“This infrastructure will be able to support the future direction of education delivery and access to content.”

The impact of the network connectivity project is such that students and teachers now have much improved access to the Internet and the resources that it offers world wide.

“We appreciated CityWest’s agility, dedication and commitment throughout the Next Generation Network project,” ... “Together we have been able to improve student and teacher access within schools and throughout the world over the Internet.” -- James Shypitka, Executive Director at the Ministry of Education.

At the local level, Andrew Samoil, School District 52's Director of Instruction – Educational Innovation, noted the importance of the new access to the community.

“The redesigned network is much faster, which improves daily classroom instruction,” ...  “We are experiencing tremendous growth in digital learning resources that help make our classrooms engaging and exciting. CityWest plays a pivotal part in ensuring students have dependable access to these resources."
