We reviewed some of the work on the code survey this Spring with this blog post from April 4, which examined some of the questions and initial findings that were delivered through the consultation.
The slow pace of delivering the results from their work has seemingly been a topic of conversation for the community and earlier this week, the Lax Kw'alaams Band Council provided an update through the community Facebook page, bringing the membership up to date on the progress of review of the findings that came out of the two rounds of community meetings.
As part of their information sharing, the Governance Committee made note of the difficult decisions that are ahead as the consider what changes may be required to how the community casts their ballots in Council elections.
"The balance between determining what needs to be updated in the Election Regulations vs. what benefit is achieved through making that change is a difficult decision to reach"
The committee also outlined that they hope to be in a position to mail out a first draft of the proposed changes to eligible voters shortly. Providing members of the Band to review the document and make any comments or suggestions that they may believe are required.
