| Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister Selina Robinson is sending funding to a number of BC communities this week to address infrastructure issues |
From that pool of available money, 10,000 dollars is to be delivered to local governments to help in the improvement or development of a comprehensive long-term plan for infrastructure such as water, waste water and drainage.
Selina Robinson, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing made the announcement on Tuesday and noted that planning for infrastructure concerns was a theme for discussion at the recent UBCM convention in Vancouver.
“The Infrastructure Planning Grant Program is a way for the Province to help set up local governments for success,” ... “In my conversations with local government representatives at the recent Union of BC Municipalities convention, I heard that infrastructure is a priority. These grants will help ensure infrastructure is delivered through careful planning and collaborative solutions, which will benefit local communities.”
Two communities in the Northwest have benefited from this round of program delivery, with Burns Lake and the Bulkley-Nechako Regional District both awarded the funding for their submissions to the program.
It wasn't noted in the funding advisory if other communities such as the City of Prince Rupert, or North Coast Regional District had submitted a proposal for this current round of grant applications.
The next round of decisions related to the program will be made based on applications that are submitted by January 17th of 2018.
